hai this is where im gonna put a few of my favourite albums, as well as a top 3 fav songs, and my favourite line from the album

tender buttons

this is an album i really like, its another broadcast piece, it kinda sits just above the noise made by people in some respects and below it in others, for example it has my favourite broadcast song 'michael a grammar' whereas 'echos answer' and 'come on lets go' from nmbp are also personal favs, however it gets the spot over nmbp only because its generally more refined attempt at what i think broadcast is all about
every song on this album makes me feel like trish keenan telling me something about myself that i didnt even know yet, what a genius, sometimes itll make me cry, for no reason at all.

this is not your sawtooth wave

teens of denial

joint mostly with twin fantasy, although this is absolutely more polished, sharper and more clever, it feels more like a view on Wills non sober past, from the view of retrospect, as someone who is now sober. almost as if hes saying 'this is how i feel now about how i felt then'
its a very feel-y album, theres lots of feelings and lines that cut deep, despite that fact that Will says that alot of the narrators are not intended to be him, his intensely confessional songwriting still cuts throught that, i do not for a second believe that he is not writing from experience in 'destroyed by hippie powers' or 'fill in the blank'

i didnt want you to hear that shake in my voice, my pain is my own

in the aeroplane over the sea

i mean its almost a copout to put this here, theres nothing for me to say about this album that hasnt already been said a billion times, other than, its amazing, listen to it if you haven't, the only new thing i can say is my own personal experience, so. my favourite memory of this album is being at my friends house at 3 in the morning, having the titular song come on, and us all deciding to sit down, hold hands, close our eyes and belt the fucking shit out of that song. so yeah, awesome.

how strange it is to be anything at all

if you are feeling sinister

a truly perfect album in my opinion, there is nothing better for feeling queer or coy. the way the synth in songs like if you are feeling sinister sort of glides around and behind the other instruments, the writing, OH THE WRITING, this is another, 'im crying and i dont know why' type of albums. theres also a large range of emotions on this, from the soul crushing but unplacable melancholy of the title track and to the whimsy of 'get me away from here im dying' or the strangeness of fox in the snow or dylan in the movies, its an album that manages the difficult task of having a consistent emotional feeling, without being monotone or crushing. part of that is stuart murdochs pretty and wistful vocals, the other part is the twee/chamber instrumentation. in short, this album succeeds in a way that many albums (even widely good or great ones) simply dont, and give it a depth that is rarely seen in indie rock

if you are feeling sinister, go up and see a minister, he'll try in vain, to take away, the pain of being a hopeless unbeliever

pork soda

this is the kind of album that makes you feel like you should be lurching around back alleys and muttering to yourself, while drunk on leftover vodka or something. Let me sum it up, pork soda, from front to back, is a disgusting, violent and off kilter, (i could rehash the bit about 3 talented musicians playing 3 different songs, but youve heard it) album, that feels like it should not be nearly as popular, like it comes from a band youve listened to in a pub show one time and then never again, but you could swear that it was the most interesting music ever made. Look the point of all this is that you should listen to this album, and then you chould listen to it again, les claypool is basically the funniest frontman and the best bass player when it comes to alternative metal (even calling it metal feels like a diservice as its so much more than just metal)

we had our words.... a common spat..... so i kissed him upside the cranium with that alluminum baseball bat, my name is mud

ambient 1: music for airports

so, you know the minecraft music and, you know aphex twin, and you know all of ambient music ever, yeah this is kinda where that comes from, basically just the origin of ambient music as we know it, brian eno (of roxy music) hated airports, and so he made some music to make them feel calmer, and less stressful, and guess what gang, it works in places other than airports, okay look, theres not alot to say about this one, its a fucking ambient album, but its here because its a really damn good one, its calming, its not ever grating or annoying, and you can feel where c418 gets that sound from.
